Discrepancies in NHS GP Funding

(February 18, 2015)

There is a discrepancy in NHS funding of GP practices in Lancashire who receive significantly lower funding than other counties in the south.  In total, GP practices in Lancashire receive a total of £165m with East Anglia receiving £382m. The breakdown shows that this amounts to £115.52 per patient Preston receive.

Mark said: 'The reason I believe that the figures for Lancashire are so low is because there is more likely to be less GP's per patient therefore the cost per patient is lower because more patients are attached to a lesser number of GPs.  That is one of the reason A&E at Lancashire hospitals has been under such strain and chaos, not just during winter months but during generally.'
