Mark announces new Fishwick surgery venue

(March 21, 2014)

Mark announced the details of his latest surgery which will take place this Saturday 22nd March 2014 at the Acregate Labour Club in Fishwick.

This is the first time an MP’s advice surgery will be held in the Fishwick ward of the City. Mark's advice surgeries regularly take place approximately twice a month on a Saturday morning at various locations around the City, including the Harris Library & Museum, Ashton Methodist Church and Preston Community Transport.

The surgeries are run on a first come-first served basis from 11am until 1pm and are open to anyone who lives in the Preston constituency. Constituents can write or e-mail Mark directly regarding their issue, but some people prefer to have a face to face private consultation.

Mark said: “Sometimes people find it hard to travel to different parts of the city, so I like to ensure that my surgery venues cover all parts of Preston. I’m delighted that we were able to find a suitable venue in the Fishwick area.’

MP’s surgeries are a place for constituents to meet with their Member of Parliament to discuss personal issues and discuss how their MP can assist them with a range of agencies.  Constituents usually present with a wide variety of issues such as problems with benefits, immigration, and housing or to discuss topical issues such as animal welfare or Bills going through Parliament.

Local resident, Roy Leeming,  said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Mark to the ward.  He has been very active addressing problems for local residents and we are glad to see he’s continuing the good work in Fishwick.’
