Unemployment continues to rise

(September 12, 2012)

New figures today show that unemployment has risen again in Preston with 3,129 people currently unemployed at a rate of 7.9%.

Even more startling is there has been an 800% increase from this time last year in the number of people aged 18 - 24 who are long term unemployed .

Mark said "The Government's reckless austerity measures has seen unemployment increase in Preston once again, with young people continuing to pay for the mistakes of David Cameron and Nick Clegg.

“The blunt truth is that Britain needs a change of course fast. We are now in the longest double-dip recession since the Second World War."
