Mark speaks on organ donation

Mark recently visited Ashton Community and Science College to talk to students about the benefit of organ donation.

Mark is working in partnership with Lancashire Teaching Hospital in Preston to raise awareness of the organ donation list amongst young people and ethnic minority groups.

Mark said “Organ Donation is a key procedure with one human body being able to save or aid countless lives. The students were very engaged and I hope that they will talk to their parents about this important matter.”

Helen Bradley the Bereavement and Donation co – coordinator at Lancashire Teaching Hospital’s said “On behalf of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals I'd like to thank Mark for his support in raising awareness of organ and tissue donation, particularly within Black and Asian communities. Any one of any age can potentially donate whether for transplantation or research”.

David Mather the Headteacher of Ashton Community Science College said “It was a very worthwhile and informative assembly for all our students giving them much food for thought about the sensitive topic of organ donation. I highly recommended to other schools who wish to highlight this cause to do so.”
