We need a jobs and growth Budget

(March 14, 2012)

Unemployment continues to rise in Preston after the Office of National Statisitcs published the latest unemployment statistics.

The number of unemployed claimants in Preston in February 2012 was 3,373. The number of claimants is 465 higher than in February 2011 and 169 higher than in January 2012.

Long term youth unemployment has increased by a staggering 323.1% from February 2011 to February 2012.

Mark said "Out of touch ministers need to wake up to the jobs crisis they're responsible for and take urgent action now. At the budget next week the Chancellor should adopt Labour's five point plan for jobs and growth including a tax on bankers' bonuses to fund 100,000 youth jobs and a tax break for small firms taking on extra workers to help get Britain back to work."

"If urgent action isn't taken then we risk creating a "lost generation" of young people. The Chancellor must produce a budget for jobs and growth."
