Prime Minister avoids tough questions over BAE

(February 21, 2012)

Mark has expressed his disappointment that the Prime Minister invited only four of the six local Lancashire MPs to discuss French firm Dassualt being the preferred bidding partner to the Indian Government for creating their fighter jets rather than BAE systems.

Four Conservative Party MPs, Nigel Evans, Ben Wallace, Lorraine Fulbrook and Mark Menzies met David Cameron at Downing Street on Monday. Local Labour MPs Mark Hendrick and Lindsay Hoyle were not invited.

Mark said “This is very disappointing news that the Prime Minister has sought to score cheap political points by excluding Labour MPs from this meeting. Thousands of BAE workers across Lancashire are relying on this project from the Indian Government. It is only right that all MPs whose constituents are affected by this decision, regardless of their political party should have been invited.”
