Mark visits Salvation Army

(February 06, 2012)

Mark recently visited the Salvation Army on Harrington Street to discuss the services offered by the local branch with Major Carole Babstock and to tour the facility.

Salvation Army

The centre provides a variety of services from running soup kitchens, making food parcels and providing toiletries.

Mark said “I’m deeply concerned at the increase in the number of people who are in need of food parcels. A total of 307 food parcels were given out in 2010, the total number for 2011 was 831 and things are only going to get harder during these difficult economic times.  Carole and her team of volunteers are doing a fantastic job. Simple things such as food and a place to live are things that get taken for granted.  I would like to encourage anyone that can, to donate any pre packaged, non perishable food to the Salvation Army.”

To donate food please contact the Salvation Army on 01772 555 425
