Concern at BAE loss to French firm

(February 01, 2012)

Mark has expressed his disappointment at today’s news that French firm Dassault is the preferred partner for the Indian Government for fighter jets.

Mark said “This is very disappointing news that Dassault is the preferred partner for the Indian Government. This will be a blow for thousands of BAE workers across Lancashire who were relying on this project from the Indian Government.

“There is still a way to go in the process as Dassault still has to meet a variety of technical tests before any contract is awarded. If Dassault doesn’t come up to scratch BAE may then still be in with a chance of securing the contract.

“I have always supported workers at BAE in Lancashire and today I have spoken with Government Minister Mark Prisk who assures me that every effort is being made to help BAE secure the contract."
